WATER WOES IN INDIA....CENSUS 2011

LOTS OF SCOPE FOR WORK TO BE DONE BY ALL INDIANS WITHOUT LOOKING FOR GOVT. HELP

Census 2011 data says that more than half of Indian households do not have a source of drinking water at home.
A fifth of rural households have to walk at least 500 meters to get drinking water. Even then, the water is of questionable quality.
India loses as many as 73 million working days to waterborne diseases. This can be a worrying number as India is the largest user of ground water in the world.
........source NATIONAL WATER DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
The socio economic impact of time spent on walking to fetch drinking water is two fold
_it slows development as millions of work hours/days are missed
_ girls drop out of school as they are needed at home to fetch water
ACCORDING TO GLOBAL STUDIES BY UNDP, UNICEF

Automatically, our productivity also decreases.
